Surprising Foreo Luna 4 Review: Clear Skin Guaranteed

I’ll be honest – another skincare device, like the Foreo LUNA 4, was the last thing I needed. I already had the (now discontinued) LUNA 2, and while I didn’t even use it regularly, I loved keeping it in my travel bag.
In fact, I’m still faithful to my reliable 12-year-old Clarisonic, and it’s working just fine (I know, I know… clinging onto a beautiful relic of the past).
However, as beauty tech advances, curiosity inevitably gets the best of me.
Why the Foreo LUNA 4
The Foreo devices use ultrasonic cleansers with pulsating silicone bristles. In simple terms, the vibration massage improves blood flow and breaks up dirt for an extra-squeaky clean. When your skin is clean and free of dead skin cells, the active ingredients in your skincare can penetrate better. As a result, you’ll likely see improved radiance, elasticity, and a reduction in fine lines and uneven skin tone over time.

I felt compelled to try it firsthand at 40 years old and experiencing the initial signs of skin laxity.
My Everyday Cleansing Routine
I follow a simple cleansing routine: I use makeup oil, cleanse my hands in the shower with a gentle foaming cleanser, and finish off with micellar water on a cotton round.
About once a week, I would use my trusty Clarisonic or the Foreo 2 for good measure.
When using the LUNA 4, I carried out the same routine but cleansed 1x day with the device in the evening.
I also used the device with a little bit of body wash and swept it all over my body in circular motions. I found this effective at reducing ingrown hairs and strawberry skin!

Foreo offers different versions of the LUNA 4 based on skin types. Whether you have sensitive skin (purple), balanced (peach), or combination skin (green), there’s an option for any skin type.
The variations are in the silicon nodules, or “touchpoints.” The most sensitive model has the longest, softest touchpoints made of ultra-hygienic silicone.
I purchased the balanced skin model and noticed that the bristles were much softer than those of my older LUNA 2.
It Has an APP
The LUNA 4 adds an extra step by syncing with a Foreo app, which guides you through various cleansing modes.
You actually have to set this up before you can use the device, which was kind of annoying at first, but I didn’t have to bother with it once I set it up.
I didn’t use the app feature much and thought it was a bit gimmicky. But it’s a fun tool for people who want a personalized skincare routine.
Ultrasonic Cleansing Technology
The LUNA 4 has ultrasonic cleansing technology with 16 adjustable “T-Sonic pulsations” to penetrate deep into your skin to remove traces of makeup, dirt, and oil without being too harsh.
And having a timed cleanse ensures you are taking your time. Have you seen the new 60-second cleanse rule?
When I spent the full minute cleansing with the Foreo LUNA 4, my skin was clean – no traces of residue on my cotton round.
When I was in a hurry and rushed through the cleanse under the minute mark, I didn’t notice anything drastically different than my typical cleanse.
This is where I think it pays to take your time if you want the full benefits of the Foreo LUNA devices. Especially if you invest in your skincare – having every bit of makeup and reside off will ensure your products work better and will guarantee fresh, healthy skin.
Firming Massage
The LUNA 4 has “professionally tailored massage patterns” that provide lymphatic drainage, deep tissue massage, trigger point massage, and reflexology. It’s like having a gua sha, facial massager, and facial cleansing brush in one.
This is a nice feature if you are prone to puffy skin, feeling under the weather, or have a sinus headache. I haven’t used the massage feature that much yet, but I see this coming in handy.
Impressive Battery Life
Here’s where the LUNA 4 pleasantly surprised me—after a couple of months of consistent use, I have not had to recharge it. The same is true for my older LUNA 2 (I don’t think I’ve ever had to charge that one).
The LUNA 4 is USB rechargeable with up to 600 uses per single charge! If you’re the type to forget to charge your devices (like me), this is a great feature.
Silicone Bristles
All LUNA devices have velvety-soft silicone touchpoints, which are gentle on the skin and more hygienic than brushes with nylon bristles. The silicone bristles make it easy to keep in your shower and take along for travel since they’re so easy to dry.
Travel Friendly Design
In my opinion, its best feature is its compact size, which makes it the perfect addition to your travel skincare bag.
Foreo also has travel-size, on-the-go versions in different colors, which are adorable, and I want them all.
The silicone bristles thoroughly cleanse and dry quickly, so you don’t have to wait for your device to dry before packing it.

Foreo LUNA 4 Results
I used the LUNA 4 for four months before analyzing it. Did I notice a difference? Hard to tell.
I do know that when I completed the last swipe of my micellar water when using the LUNA, there was no residue, so I’m confident my skin was clean.
And that makes me feel better about investing in my skincare products because I know my skin is clean and prepped for any products.
With that, I didn’t see any significant changes to my skin, but the device did introduce an element of sophistication to my routine. And it looks pretty in my shower.
I’m a fan overall and will always have one in my travel bag (and in my shower now). I have continued to use the LUNA 4 daily since I started testing it.
Pros:
- Great for travel: the compact size fits nicely in my skincare bag, and silicone bristles are easy to dry when packing.
- Long charge: I’ve used this consistently for a couple of months now and have not had to charge it.
- The silicone bristles mean you don’t have to worry about repurchasing brush heads.
- You can customize your cleansing routine on their App – I didn’t stick with the App, but if you’re a tech lover, this might be a reason to buy.
- Foreo devices have a timer for cleansing that helps you avoid quick 15-second routines.
Cons:
- The LUNA devices are firm, so getting into the crevices around your nose and eyes is trickier. A cleansing brush or washcloth to cleanse areas around these areas works a bit better.
- Some users report having issues with the App. I didn’t have issues with it connecting, but I see where the App adds an extra step and a layer of complexity. I was also hit with advertisements each time I opened the app, which was annoying.

If you love a luxe experience or want a travel-friendly cleansing device, buy it. I personally love the Foreo 4- it’s a nice upgrade from the previous models.
I have dry skin, and I found the LUNA 4 gentle but effective. The Foreo devices are also great for acne-prone skin because they remove every bit of makeup!
