Improve Your Jawline With the NuFACE Trinity: My Before and After Results

I share my before and after results with the NuFACE Trinity in this review. I was specifically trying to target my lower face and jowl area.

Why the NuFACE Trinity?

For those of us too young for facelifts but old enough to see the signs of aging, it’s a tough spot to be in.

We know Botox can only do so much, fillers don’t lift, and I’m personally terrified of threads. So, we’re in purgatory, seeking out the next best thing to lift, tone, and tighten.

And, I’m no stranger to the next new skincare gadget – I’ll find some good excuse reason to add it to my ever-growing skincare regime.

With the NuFACE, though, I was skeptical.

Yes, I read glowing reviews from others who vouched for it:

“I saw instant results after one session.”

“A subtle and temporary lift…I use it daily.”

“My fine lines look better right after I use it.”

That sounds good, but it seemed like a lot of work to use daily for temporary results.

I wasn’t that interested.

Then, I came across article after article of dermatologists and glowy celebs like Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson raving about the NuFACE. I had to try it!

And in the cart it went – I purchased the NuFACE Trinity along with their eye and lip attachment and tried it for a good six months before evaluating it.

Below, I’ll share what NuFACE claims to do, my results, and my overall NuFACE review.

What Exactly Does the NuFACE Trinity Do?

Using microcurrent technology, the NuFACE Trinity promises to be a non-invasive solution for achieving a more toned, lifted, and youthful appearance. Specifically:

  1. Improved Facial Contour: NuFACE claims to “enhance facial contours” by toning and lifting facial muscles, providing a more defined and sculpted appearance.
  2. Reduced Wrinkles and Fine Lines: The microcurrent technology is supposed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eyes, mouth, and forehead.
  3. Better Skin Tone and Texture: NuFACE claims to promote improved skin tone and texture by stimulating collagen production, contributing to plump, radiant-looking skin.

I was excited to see results for improved facial contour… anything that would lift my baby jowls.

What is Microcurrent?

Microcurrent is a gentle electrical current that mirrors the body’s bioelectrical currents, stimulating cells and tissues.

Let’s take a quick detour into the science behind it.

Our body relies on the movement of ions, such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and chloride, across cell membranes to generate electrical impulses.

These electrical impulses are crucial for various physiological processes, including muscle contractions, nerve signals, and cellular communication.

The NuFACE devices use microcurrent to promote cellular activity that builds collagen and elastin production, which helps tighten and tone your skin and gives a more lifted look.

It’s like a Pilates workout for your face.

Does Microcurrent Actually Work to Lift, Tone, and Tighten?

According to NuFACE’s clinical studies, yes. NuFACE conducted an independent study for the NuFACE Trinity. Participants using the NuFACE Trinity for 5 minutes a day for 60 consecutive days reported impressive results:

  • 85% of users experienced improved facial contour
  • 77% of users reported their face looked more toned
  • 80% of users reported their skin felt smoother

While these results are impressive, finding clinical studies on NuFACE’s efficacy for anti-aging has been challenging.

I did find this study on ResearchGate, which concludes that microcurrent technology does show some promise in addressing wrinkles.

So, I wasn’t expecting any miracles but was optimistic after seeing others’ before and after results online.

Is the NuFACE Trinity Safe?

Yep – the NuFACE devices are FDA-cleared, which means they have been tested and are safe for at-home use.

However, using microcurrent near the neck, specifically the thyroid gland, is not recommended, as microcurrent can overstimulate the thyroid gland.

Can You Use the NuFACE With Botox and Fillers?

Yes – I get Botox every 3-4 months on my forehead and around my eyes. I had cheek filler a long time ago but haven’t done it recently.

My injector recommended skipping the NuFACE within the first couple of weeks of any treatment, which is what I do.

I use the NuFACE trinity primarily to target the jawline and jowls since I do botox my forehead (it seems counterintuitive to try and activate the muscles that are frozen -right?!).

I do actually like to use the NuFACE trinity on my forehead when I am due for Botox, and my muscles are free again. It’s my way of stimulating the muscles a bit to ensure they get too lax. No idea if there’s any efficacy to this, but it’s just what I do. 🙂

NuFACE Step-by-Step for Targeting the Jawline and Jowls:

The NuFACE face treatment only takes about 5 minutes – not bad. However, you’ll have to actively glide the device across your skin, so no multitasking here.

  1. I applied the NuFACE Activator Gel to a clean face. NuFace requires an Activator Gel that acts as a conductor for the microcurrents. I hear you can use aloe vera gel, too.
  2. I attached the regular attachment for the face.
  3. I turned on my NuFACE Trinity: there are three setting levels. I was able to go to the highest setting without any discomfort.
  4. I slowly guided the NuFACE over my face. I started with my jawline and paused for three seconds before lifting the NuFACE and slowly moving up my face. I paused for a few seconds on my jawline to target the jowls.
  5. I then switched to the eye/lip attachment for my eyes. I also found this attachment easier to get into the area between the eyebrows.
  6. After 5-7 minutes, the activator gel started to dry, and I could feel the microcurrent zaps, so I stopped for that session.
  7. Before applying my regular skincare, I let any remaining activator gel sink into my skin. The activator gel is hyaluronic based, so it is very similar to moisturizer, and there’s no need to wash it off.
  8. Put the NuFACE Trinity back on the charging stand. I keep it on my counter to ensure I don’t forget about it.

That’s it!

How it Feels: Using the activator gel, you shouldn’t feel the microcurrent sensation. Once the activator gel started to dry on my face, I could feel a subtle tingle from the microcurrent, but it wasn’t painful unless it touched dry skin without any gel.

NuFACE Before and After Results

After a few months of using 3 to 4 days a week, I *thought* I saw some improvement. And then, I just kept going. I knew this was a long-term game.

I have been using the NuFace Trinity for over three years, and while the results are subtle, I have seen improvement when used regularly.

Speaking of routine…

My NuFACE Routine

The key to optimal NuFACE results is CONSISTENCY. And committing to something consistently is, well…hard.

But if you invest your hard-earned cash, make it worthwhile and stick to it for results.

There were many weeks when my NuFACE remained untouched. The game-changer for me? I treat it like a weekly workout, checking it off like any other essential on my to-do list.

I used the NuFACE every other day, 3-4 days a week.

Overall Thoughts

Pros:

  • Non-invasive and easy-to-use
  • High-customer sentiment / proven results
  • Only 5 minutes per treatment

Cons

  • You must use an activator gel. I like the NuFACE activator gel, but it is an added cost. You can also use aloe vera gel.
  • It’s not hands-free, which makes it difficult to do anything else. You might become impatient if you’re like me and always feel compelled to multitask.
  • You have to use it consistently. The hardest part of using the NuFACE is staying consistent throughout the week. The treatment time is short, but NuFACE recommends at least 3-5 days a week.

Is the NuFACE Trinity Worth It?

If my NuFACE broke tomorrow, would I repurchase it?

Yes, I would.

I had to think about this for a minute because there have been weeks where I haven’t touched it. But I like to use this test to see if it truly is something I think is value-added to my ever-growing skincare regime.

the NuFACE is not hard to use, and it’s one of the few non-invasive options that shows promising results.

I’m a fan.

In fact, so much so that I splurged on the NuBody Body Toning Device, hoping to see similar results on some skin laxity on my stomach. More to come – still testing.
