In this Revision Skincare review, I walk you through all the products I tried to share my honest thoughts on their skincare line.

About Revision Skincare

Revision is a medical-grade skincare line available online through retailers like Amazon and Dermstore, as well as in many doctors’ offices and medspas.

They are known for their innovative formulations, including peptides like Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 and patented ingredient technologies like T.H.D. Ascorbate, a super stable form of Vitamin C, which target fine lines, dry skin, and the tricky area where the epidermis meets the dermis (who knew that was a thing?).

Revision Skincare also focuses on using powerful antioxidants, boosting skin’s cellular energy, and preventing glycation, a primary cause of aging.

I started exploring the skincare line with their Vitamin C lotion after my esthetician recommended it. When I saw great results, I wanted to try more! Plus, I love that they’re big on innovation and back up their products with clinical studies.

Revision Skincare Products I Tried

revision skincare before and after

After researching and seeing good results from their vitamin C, I was eager to put more products to the test.

I am over 40 and for my skin, I was looking to improve skin texture, reduce dullness, and brighten age spots (my primary concern).

Here are my experiences with some of their most popular skincare products:

Papaya Enzyme Cleanser 6.7 fl oz, $44

revision skincare cleanser

The Papaya Enzyme Cleanser gently exfoliates and cleanses the skin with papaya extract and salicylic acid, which help remove dead skin cells, leaving the skin looking brighter and smoother. It also contains other ingredients like Bixa Orellana Seed Extract, which is soothing and high in antioxidants.

I have normal to dry skin, and this doesn’t dry out my skin at all—it feels nourished and refreshed. It has a light citrus scent that doesn’t bother me, but it’s worth noting if you’re sensitive to fragrance.

It has a nice slip and lathers slightly for a good cleanse. Perhaps not as “slippy” as my favorite I.S. clinical cleaner, but similar.

Since incorporating the Papaya Enzyme Cleanser into my routine, I’ve noticed some improvement in my skin’s texture and brightness. It’s especially great for normal to combination skin types.

Water (Aqua), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sorbitol, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Glycereth-2 Cocoate, Carica Papaya Fruit Extract, Butylene Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Papain, Bis-PEG/PPG-20/20 Dimethicone, Citric Acid, Bixa Orellana Seed Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Carbomer, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Algin, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Maltodextrin, Aminomethyl Propanol, Benzoic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Bicarbonate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tocopherol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-t-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Limonene, Fragrance (Parfum).

Pros:

  • Gentle Exfoliation: Papaya fruit extract naturally exfoliates dead skin cells without overstripping.
  • Antioxidant-Rich: Ingredients like vitamin E and Bixa Orellana Seed Extract provide antioxidant benefits.

Cons:

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate: This cleaner has sodium lauryl sulfate at the front of the ingredient list, which can irritate sensitive skin.
  • Fragrance (Parfum): Contains fragrance that may irritate those with sensitive skin or fragrance allergies.

Vitamin C Lotion 30% 1 fl oz, $138

Revision skincare reviews

This 30% Vitamin C Lotion was the first Revision product I tried, which hooked me on the brand. I loved the packaging—a convenient pump that kept the Vitamin C stable and was travel-friendly.

Recommended by my esthetician, this lightweight lotion became a staple in my skincare routine. After a couple months of consistent use, I noticed a significant improvement in my skin—it was glowing and radiant and had a more youthful appearance.

While I love the SkinCeuticals Vitamin C, I repurchased this one because of the packaging is way better. And, it doesn’t smell!

It contains T.H.D. Ascorbate, the most stable and lipid-soluble form of Vitamin C, along with antioxidants like Vitamin E and Coenzyme Q10. This lotion brightens dull skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of firmness.

But what sets it apart is its time-released formula. This means it’s designed to gradually release its active ingredients into the skin over an extended period, providing a nice dose of antioxidants throughout the day.

Water (Aqua), Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Glycerin, PPG-12/SMDI Copolymer, Corn Starch Modified, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetearyl Glucoside, Tocopherol, Ubiquinone, Glyceryl Caprylate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Squalane, Xanthan Gum, Chlorphenesin, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Triethanolamine, Butylene Glycol, Sorbic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate.

Pros:

  • High Concentration of Vitamin C: With Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate as the main ingredient, this lotion delivers a potent dose of vitamin C to brighten and even out the skin tone.
  • Antioxidant Protection: Ingredients like Tocopherol and Ubiquinone provide antioxidant benefits, protecting the skin from environmental damage and preventing premature aging.
  • Time Released: Antioxidant boost throughout the day.
  • Pump packaging! So nice for travel.

Cons:

  • Potential Sensitivity: Some may experience sensitivity to certain ingredients, such as Chlorphenesin and Phenoxyethanol (preservatives).

C+ Correcting Complex 30% 1 fl oz, $176

Revision skincare reviews

This was an accidental purchase. I thought I was repurchasing the Vitamin C lotion, but I got this and really liked it! The C+ Correcting Complex, 30% Complex combines T.H.D. ascorbate and vitamin E to brighten skin tone and improve texture. It reduces the appearance of fine lines, and I’ve definitely noticed my skin looking more even and radiant since I started using it.

Compared to the Vitamin C Lotion 30%, the C+ Correcting Complex 30% has a higher concentration of T.H.D. ascorbate. So, this one might be a good pick if you have existing sun damage (like myself).

This complex also has “MelaPATH technology,” which defends and corrects the skin from the damaging effects of free radicals generated by pollution and blue light. The formulas feel identical to me.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Pentylene Glycol, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Hydrolyzed Eruca Sativa Leaf, Glycerin, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Cetearyl Glucoside, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Acetyl Zingerone, Palmitoyl Glycine, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glyceryl Caprylate, Plantago Lanceolata Leaf Extract, Diglucosyl Gallic Acid, Squalane, Sodium Carboxymethyl Beta-Glucan, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Ergothioneine, Punica Granatum Extract, Tocopherol, Ubiquinone, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Triethanolamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium EDTA, PPG-12/SMDI Copolymer, Xanthan Gum.

Pros:

  • High Concentration of Vitamin C: With Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate as the main ingredient, this serum delivers a potent dose of vitamin C to brighten and even out the skin tone.
  • Defense Against Environmental Stressors: MelaPATH technology helps defend the skin from the damaging effects of pollution and blue light
  • Lightweight Texture: The serum formulation absorbs well and is easy to later with other skincare products

Cons:

  • Potential Sensitivity: Some individuals may experience sensitivity to certain ingredients, such as Phenoxyethanol (preservative).
  • Expensive: The C+ Correcting Complex is $40 more than the Vitamin C lotion (but I really like the added MelaPATH technology)

D.E.J. Eye Cream .05 oz, $118

Revision Eye Cream Review
revision skincare DEJ Eye Cream Review

The dermal-epidermal junction (D.E.J.) is the area where the outer layer of your skin (epidermis) meets the deeper layer (dermis). It helps maintain the skin’s firmness and elasticity.

As we age, the D.E.J. can become compromised, leading to issues like sagging, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity. That’s where D.E.J.-targeting ingredients, often seen in Revision products, come in.

The D.E.J. Eye Cream contains D.E.J-targeting ingredients like peptides, antioxidants, and hydrating agents, which strengthen and nourish the D.E.J., reducing sagging, diminishing wrinkles, and restoring elasticity around the eyes.

I have slightly hooded eyes, and this eye cream is clinically proven to address eyelid hooding and droopiness. Did it fix my hooded eyes? No, but I thought it was a good eye cream and have already purchased one.

It also contains prebiotics to balance the skin’s Microbiome and provide healthy skin around the eye.

The texture was slightly thicker than their other serums and nourishing for the under eye. I particularly liked the packaging and applicator, too! I would repurchase this again.

Water (Aqua), Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Water, Caprylic/Capric/Myristic/Stearic Triglyceride, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Sorbitol, Cetyl Palmitate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Cetyl Esters, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Hypnea Musciformis Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Alpha-Glucan Oligosaccharide, Decyl Cocoate, Sorbitan Stearate, Silanetriol, Rhamnose, Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline, Leontopodium Alpinum Meristem Cell Culture, Sargassum Filipendula Extract, Butylene Glycol, Panthenol, Caprylyl Glycol, Squalane, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Seed Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract, Steareth-10, Gelidiella Acerosa Extract, Steareth-20, Hydrolyzed Myrtus Communis Leaf Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Potassium Sorbate, Methylpropanediol, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Polysorbate 60, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Caprylate, Propanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopherol, Palmitic Acid, Sorbitan Isostearate, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Sterols, Citric Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin

Pros:

  • DEJ-Targeting Ingredients: Peptides, powerful antioxidants, and hydrating agents work together to strengthen and nourish the D.E.J., reducing sagging and restoring elasticity around the eyes.
  • Clinically Proven: Effective in addressing eyelid hooding and droopiness, making it ideal for those with slightly hooded eyes.
  • Prebiotic and Postbiotic Innovation: Balances the skin’s Microbiome for healthier skin around the eyes.
  • Convenient Packaging: The packaging and applicator make it easy to apply.

Cons:

  • Expensive!

Intellishade Original, SPF 45 Tinted Moisturizer 1.7 oz, $84

revision skincare intellishade swatches

The Intellishade Original is a hydrating tinted moisturizer with SPF 45. I was already set with my trusty Elta MD, ColoreScience, and Alastin tinted sunscreens – this was the last thing I needed, but the reviews were SO good!

I liked this one—it was pretty similar to others and reminded me a lot of Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer but with higher SPF (and anti-aging ingredients).

Coverage is light, and the texture is lightweight but hydrating. I used this as my SPF and then did a very light layer of my foundation on top, giving me a nice hydrated glow to the skin.

Some tinted sunscreens run a little too warm, but this melted into my skin and looked neutral-toned. It had a very faint sunscreen smell, but it wasn’t heavy at all.

Ingredients:  Octinoxate 7.5% (Sunscreen), Octisalate 5% (Sunscreen), Titanium Dioxide 3.5% (Sunscreen), Zinc Oxide 3% (Sunscreen). Inactive Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cyclopentasiloxane, Jojoba Esters, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Betula Alba (White Birch) Bark Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Plankton Extract, Beeswax (Cera Alba), Dimethicone, Squalane, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Tocopherol, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Lecithin, Palmitoyl Dipeptide-5 Diaminobutyroyl Hydroxythreonine, Glyceryl Caprylate, Tetradecyl Aminobutyroylvalylaminobutyric Urea Trifluoroacetate, Yeast Extract (Faex), Boron Nitride, Epigallocatechin Gallate, Ubiquinone, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Meal Extract, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Glyceryl Isostearate, Chlorphenesin, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Magnesium Chloride, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Benzoic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

Pros:

  • Texture: Lightweight and hydrating texture.
  • Color: Neutral-toned and blends well into the skin.
  • Coverage: Provides light coverage with a glowing finish.
  • Ingredient lineup: Impressive blend of beneficial skincare ingredients like Vitamin C, CoQ10, broad-spectrum sunscreen, and extracts that improve overall skin health.

Cons:

  • Higher price point compared to some other tinted sunscreens.

YouthFull Lip Replenisher .33oz, $40

Revision skincare review dermatologist

I heard rave reviews for the YouthFull Lip Replenisher for months, but I was happy with my Laneige lip balm and didn’t see the need to try it. I added it to my order on a whim, and I’m so glad I did! It’s like M.A.C. Lipglass…with anti-aging benefits.

The formula has hyaluronic acid and shea butter for hydration and green tea and vitamin C to brighten and protect lips from environmental stressors.

I tried it over a few weeks and felt that it kept my lips soft and hydrated. It’s super thick and glossy which makes the lips look plump and smells like a subtle mint. I love using it as an overnight mask as well.

Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Jojoba Esters, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tribehenin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sucrose Cocoate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline, Portulaca Pilosa Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil

Pros:

  • Intense Hydration: Sodium hyaluronate delivers deep moisture, keeping lips plump and smooth.
  • Brightening and Protection: Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (vitamin C) helps brighten lips and protect against environmental damage.
  • Antioxidant Benefits: Green tea extract provides additional antioxidant protection.

Cons:

  • Sticky: some may not like the thick, sticky texture. Yes, your hair will get caught in it!
  • No SPF

D.E.J. Daily Boosting Serum 1 oz, $225

Revision skincare DEJ boosting serum

The D.E.J. Daily Boosting Serum is pricey at $225 for a 1oz bottle, but it has some serious anti-aging claims with clinical studies to back it up.

Revision states on its website that this is the “only anti-aging serum that boosts skin’s cellular energy and is clinically proven to visibly improve skin firmness, fine lines and wrinkles, radiance, texture, and tone.”

They do this through patented technology that slows cellular aging and reduces skin glycation. When I read the claims, I had to give this at least a try because glycation scares me!

Glycation, a natural process where sugars in your diet bind to skin proteins like collagen and elastin, can lead to advanced glycation end products (A.G.E.s). These A.G.E.s contribute to wrinkles, sagging, and dull skin. I’m fully aware of my sweet tooth and assume that’s causing some inherent aging on my skin.

I liked this serum – it’s a thin liquidy serum that sinks nicely into the skin. I started using this around the same time as the Vitamin C+ complex and my skin looks great.

My Revision Skincare Routine

Revision skincare before and after
Revision Skincare: C+ Correcting Complex, D.E.J. Eye Cream, Intellishade Original, Youthful Lips Replenisher.

Incorporating these Revision Skincare products into my routine has been transformative. Here’s how I use them:

  • Morning: Start with the Brightening Facial Wash, the Vitamin C Lotion 30% or C+ complex for antioxidant protection, and the Intellishade Original.
  • Evening: Cleanse again and apply the D.E.J. Daily Boosting Serum to repair and rejuvenate overnight.
  • Eye Care: Use the D.E.J. Eye Cream morning and night to keep the eye area firm and smooth.
  • Lips: Apply the YouthFull Lip Replenisher throughout the day for hydration.

My Top Revision Skincare Products:

I have liked all Revision products so far. If I had to pick my top three, I would chose the serums and moisturizers that have a ton of anti-aging science behind them.

  1. C+ Correcting Complex: All of the Revision Vitamin C formulas are excellent. I chose the C+ correcting complex due to its potent Vitamin C formulation and additional blue light and pollution defense. I will alternate between this C+ Correcting Complex and the Vitamin C Lotion.
  2. Intellishade Original, SPF 45 Tinted Moisturizer: This beautiful formula makes your skin glow!  It’s one of the first tinted formula that blends seamlessly.
  3. D.E.J. Daily Boosting Serum 1oz: This is a unique product that has Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Resveratrol, and Acetyl Hexapeptide-1 which help reverse the effects of glycation (aging).

Revision vs. SkinCeuticals or SkinMedica

I’ve been a long-time user of medical-grade skincare, including SkinCeuticals, SkinMedica, I.S. Clinical, Sente, etc. I love products from all of these brands, but I have a big crush on Revision right now.

Revision Skincare sets itself apart from other medical-grade skincare lines through its innovative use of proprietary peptides and advanced ingredient technologies.

They are particularly known for their use of T.H.D. Ascorbate, a super stable form of Vitamin C, enhances skin brightening and protection.

They also focus on boosting the skin’s cellular energy and preventing glycation, addressing deeper causes of aging. While SkinMedica and SkinCeuticals also offer high-quality, scientifically-backed products, Revision’s unique formulations and emphasis on cellular health has me interested in trying more.

Overall Revision Skincare Review

Using Revision Skincare has seriously improved my skin’s texture, tone, and overall appearance. I highly recommend Revision Skincare if you want a comprehensive, effective skincare line that delivers visible results.

The products might be a bit pricey, but  I see good results, so I will finish all my products and explore more of their products.

Skincare does NOT have to be expensive, so these are a bit of a splurge, and skincare is where I spend my money.
