An Honest Westman Atelier Review: Everything You Need to Know
In this Westman Atelier review, I recap the pros and cons of 13 popular products from the line.
Overview of the Westman Atelier Beauty Product Line
Founded by celeb makeup artist Gucci Westman, Westman Atelier is known for their luxurious (yet clean ) products loved by celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, and Jennifer Aniston. And, it has a high price tag to match!
I’m always on the lookout for makeup products with added benefits, and Westman Atelier immediately caught my attention with its luxurious packaging.
If you’ve come across the brand, you know what I mean – the packaging is simply stunning and heavy.
Now in my 40s, I’ve prioritized products that offer skincare benefits and have been slowly curating a top-shelf makeup collection.
With that in mind, I decided to try nearly all of the Westman Atelier line.
I tried 13 different products, and I’ll give you the real scoop on Westman Atelier makeup in this review. Just my honest, personal opinions after thorough testing.
And I’ll be honest – I didn’t love every item.
This line is not cheap! I want to help you decide if Westman Atelier is the right makeup choice for you.
Westman Atelier Ingredients
Many of the products use ingredients like coconut oil, organic jojoba oil, almond oil, shea butter, squalane, and other extracts and natural plant-based oils.
Clean makeup isn’t a “must-have” for me, but any product that can improve the skin with harmful chemicals is a win.
Westman Atelier Review
I tried a bit of everything from the line to give it a good test. I purchased all the items on my own and tested these items for several weeks. Here’s my opinion on what to invest in and what to skip.
Face Trace Contour Stick, $48
The contour stick was THE product that turned me on to Westman Atelier.
I have fair skin, and many bronzing or contour sticks look muddy on me, or they’re hard to blend out.
The face trace contour stick blends seamlessly and looks so incredibly natural.
It is formulated with organic jojoba oil, which gives it a creamy, easy-to-blend texture, but it stays all day.
It comes in three shades: Biscuit (cool beige coffee), truffle (rich mocha), and ganache (Deep espresso). Although my skin tone is fair, the deeper truffle shade works on me because it’s so blendable.
Highly recommend!
Baby Cheeks Blush Stick, $48
Just like the Face Trace Contour Stick, the Baby Cheeks Cream Blush Sticks are just as smooth and seamless.
I have Dou Dou (warm rose) and Chouchette (nude peach). Dou Dou is my favorite and has long been stable in my makeup routine.
Once I run out, this will be an immediate repurchase.
Vital Skin Full Coverage Foundation and Concealer Stick, $68
I had to try the Vital Skin Foundation Stick because it had rave reviews and won an Allure Beauty award.
I also LOVED the contour stick and blush stick, so I figured this one would also be a new favorite (spoiler: it wasn’t).
This foundation stick claims to give a second skin finish with buildable coverage. It has squalene, coconut oil, and berryflux vita extract to soothe and moisturize the skin.
This product is super creamy and emollient, and the packaging is beautiful! But, I didn’t like this as an all-over foundation.
I purchased Atellier II, which is for light skin and yellow undertones. I lean more neutral, so this was a tad too yellow for me, but the other shades were too light.
The formula seemed to pick up on any dry spot, and while it was a creamy consistency, the coverage was too light.
I like using this as a spot concealer or extra coverage after my everyday foundation routine.
Overall, you might like this if you prefer sheer coverage and a stick foundation formula.

Westman Atelier Blender Brush, $125
The price of this blender brush is ridiculous – but it’s really nice.
The Westman Atelier Blender Brush is a high-quality, vegan makeup brush (aka synthetic bristles) designed to blend cream formulas.
It’s handmade in Japan, and the bristles are densely packed and soft, making the application a luxurious experience…as it should at this price.
This brush has a flat top but is not super dense, allowing it to glide nicely with liquid products. This one is ideal for skin tints or highlighting drops but may not be the best for thicker formulas.
Overall, if you’re looking to invest in a nice makeup brushes for lighweight liquid foundations, tinted moisturizers, or the highlighting drops, this is a good one.
Vital Skincare Complexion Drops, $68
Sorry, this one is a hard pass for me.
I had such high hopes for the complexion drops, which claim to be a radiant, light to medium coverage skin tint with skincare benefits.
It has great skincare ingredients like ginseng extract, tsubaki oil, and almond oil that strengthen and improve the skin.
It goes on like a light oil-based serum and does have a beautiful glow. It’s sheer, but that’s what it’s marketed as.
My issue with this one is the smell.
I can’t explain what exactly it is, but it reminds me of the smell of the skating rink I went to every Friday night in middle school. What is that?! It’s like rancid cooking oil or something.
I would catch whiffs of it during the day, and I couldn’t take it.
I thought I got a bad batch, but I looked at other reviews with the same experience.
If you can get past the smell, it’s a very pretty product. Unfortunately, I couldn’t.
Liquid Super Loaded All-Over Illuminator Drops, $58
I’m 50/50 on this highlighter.
This is described as a complexion enhancer with vitamin C, antioxidants, and nourishing oils to give you a radiant finish.
I like the formula – it is lightweight and easy to blend, offering a radiant and dewy finish as promised.
I have the color Peau de Rose (cool pink), which gives the skin a rosy, ethereal glow.
However, it has a similar funky scent as the Vital Skincare Complexion Drops (although not as strong).
Overall, I like it – it gives a beautiful complexion, but I can get a similar finish with the dozens of other highlighters I have in my collection.
Lit Up Highlight Stick, $48
The Lit Up Highlight Sticks are described as a multitasking gel highlighter that provides a sheer, glassy finish.
Like all of the stick products, the packing is heavy, gorgeous, and has a magnetic top.
I have the colors Lit (glassy, pearl iridescent) and Biscuit (limited edition, champagne). Both provide a natural-looking highlight that gives a subtle glow to the skin.
These would be great options if you’re going for a no-makeup-makeup look or on a beach vacation.
If I’m putting it over makeup, I find it applies best by dabbing a little on my finger and then gently pressing it into my skin.
I like the lit-up sticks a little more than the illuminator drops and would repurchase again.
Beauty Butter Bronzer, $75
$75 for a .28 oz bronzer is steep, but the packaging completely suckered me in. It’s stunning!
The Beauty Butter Bronzer is a medium, matte finish bronzer that still gives a nice glow to the skin.
I personally like bronzers with a tiny bit of shimmer to give the skin dimension, and although this was a matte formula, the ingredients help provide a healthy glow.
The bronzer has cocoa seed butter, mango seed oil, and cupuacu butter that provide antioxidants and hydrate the skin.
I tried the lightest shade, Coup De Soleil (matte terra-cotta), and was pleasantly surprised by the color payoff and application. I also use it for eyeshadow, and it works great.
This is a beautiful product, but is it worth $75? It’s hard to justify that price for a bronzer.
And, PSA: while the compact is beautiful, it is really hard to open, which is frustrating.
If you want a little luxury in your life, I’d say go for it!
Baby Cheeks Powder Blush
I purchased the Le Étoiles Edition Gift Set that included this blush, but I wish they’d sell it individually! I have only been able to find the powder blush as part of the sets.
I have the color Petal (medium rose), and like the Butter Bronzer, it has a soft, hydrating finish to the skin. It goes perfectly with the Baby Cheeks Blush Stick.
If you can snag one of these blushes with a set, pick it up and try this one.
Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm, $38
The Squeaky Clean Lip Balms are a gloss/oil hybrid infused with jojoba oil, shea butter, and almond oil, which makes this feel more like a luxurious lip treatment.
I have two shades and love them for everyday use. They are glossy, slightly tinted, and super hydrating.
My favorite shade is Ma Puce, which is described as a raspberry lolli color – it gives the perfect pink tint. I purchased this one in the “cheeky duo” set, which also came with a blush stick.
The $38 price tag may seem steep for a lip gloss, but it’s a perfect gloss, in my opinion. Smooth, not sticky, and a nice, not-too-pigmented color payoff.
Can we find similar options for less? Probably yes. However, if you’re willing to splurge on clean luxury, this is a good one.
These will be a repurchase for me!
Eye Love You Mascara, $58
This one is a no for me.
The Eye Love You Volumizing mascara promises to volumize, define, and curl your lashes.
I really liked this upon application. It has a big fluffy brush that volumizes and separates, and the conditioning formula gives your lashes a healthy, glossy look.
Unfortunately, about 4 hours after wearing it, I ended up with fall out and flakes under my eyes. I tried a few times, and each time, I looked like a raccoon by mid-day.
No, thank you!
Eye Pods Eyeshadow, $88
I recently tried Eye Pods Eyeshadow in Fete, Smudge, and Mink shades: Mink (taupe with silver iridescence), Smudge (rich neutral brown), and Fête (champagne with gold iridescence).
The packaging is gorgeous and unique – they are small magnetic “pods” that connect together.
The eyeshadows themselves are pretty. The iridescent is sophisticated in these, and the texture is kind of a powder/cream hybrid.
I noticed slight creasing at the end of the day, but the eyeshadow, overall, had good staying power.
While I think these are decent, something in the formula makes my eyelids burn.
I typically do not have sensitive eyes, so this was strange for me, but every time I use them, my eyelids burn for about 20 minutes, and then it subsides.
Because of that, I probably won’t repurchase these.
Eye Love You Eye Pencil, $34
The Eye Love You Eye Pencil is a khôl formula that glides on nicely. It’s richly pigmented and is easy to smudge out for a sexy, smoky eye.
I liked it and had no issues with it. $34 for a Kohl pencil, though? Meh, you can find something similar for less. However, this is a good option if you appreciate clean ingredients with a luxury feel.
Update: I tried this out some more and realized it was causing smudging a few hours later. Looks pretty at first, but it doesn’t wear well. I ended up tossing this in the trash 🙁 .
Final Verdict: Is Westman Atelier Worth It?
It depends.
Some items were absolutely worth it, and others, I’d say, save your money.
Makeup products are so personal, though – what might not work for me may work for someone else.
The high-quality, clean formulas in the Westman Atelier products and beautiful packaging make them truly stand out in the market. Overall, I’m a fan.
While the price point may be on the higher end, some of the products are worth the investment for anyone looking for a luxurious and clean beauty experience.
With that, not every product worked for me, but they might work for you!
